Wintersköl™ Parade 2008 Saturday, January 12th at 2pm Downtown Aspen
REGISTRATION: FREE but required for all entries. Please click on .pdf at the bottom of this page. Deadline is Thursday, January 10th by 5 p.m.
PARADE STARTING TIME: General staging for the public will be on E. Hyman Avenue (block by Aspen Athletic club). E. Hyman, b/t Original Street & Spring Street, will be closed to all traffic & designated for parade staging only. For staging line-up, take Main Street around to Original Street, and then turn right onto E Hyman. Line up is on a first-come, first serve basis starting at 1:00 p.m., January 12th.
NEW! PARADE ROUTE: The parade will begin on the corner of E. Hyman Avenue & S. Spring Street. Head west on E. Hyman to Galena. Turn south onto Galena to E. Cooper. Turn east on E. Cooper, then south onto Hunter, then west onto E. Durant. Parade participants will be directed to disperse at E. Durant and S. Galena. Judging will take place at the corner of Cooper Avenue on the Fleisher Company balcony (above Paradise Bakery). THE PARADE BEGINS AT 2:00 P.M. Parade positioning is first come, first serve and is done according to the discretion of the parade director. There is no entry fee and the parade is open to the public.
PARADE JUDGING: Judging will take place on the Fleisher Company balcony, at the corner of Cooper Ave above Paradise Bakery. Participants will be limited to 2 minutes or less for any performances in front of the judges. Security will be onsite monitoring all entries to help prevent gaps in the parade route. The best overall entry will receive $500.00 CASH!
PARADE REMINDERS: Consumption of alcohol is prohibited during the parade. Candy, favors, etc. should not be thrown from the parade route. WATER BALLOONS & SNOWBALLS WILL NOT BE PERMITTED. According to city ordinances, those caught throwing balloons will be removed from the parade and could face citations and/or arrests. All parade entries must be non-commercial and in good taste and will be allowed in the parade per the directors discretion. Parking is limited. Please ride RFTA, walk or ride your bike to town.
