  • Camping is prohibited within 100 feet of all trails, streams, and lakes. 
  • You must be OUT OF SIGHT when camping in open areas. 
  • Stoves are required above timberline in the alpine tundra.

Campgrounds

  • Difficult Campground* - 5 miles southeast on Hwy 82, it has 47 campsites.  Their season ranges from May 21st - September 30th.  The elevation is 8,180 ft.  It has access to fishing and hiking.  It also has vault toilets, water and trash facilities.  It can accept a trailer up to 40 feet.
  • Lincoln Gulch - 11 miles southeast on Hwy 82, then a half of a mile on Lincoln Creek.   It has 6 campsites.  Their season ranges from June 11th - September 13th.  The elevation is 9,600 ft.  It has access to fishing and hiking.  It also has vault toilets, water and trash facilities.  It can accept a trailer up to 16 feet.
  • Lincoln Creek - 11 miles southeast on Hwy 82, along Lincoln Creek Road, past the gulch.  It has 28 campsites.  Their season ranges from June 17th - November 13th.  The elevation is 9,800 ft.  It has access to fishing and hiking.  Unfortunately, it does not have any vault toilets, water or trash facilities.  Unfortunately, trailer space is limited.
  • Lost Man - 14 1/2 miles southeast of Aspen on Hwy 82.  It has 10 campsites.  Their season ranges from June 18th - September 13th.  The elevation is 10,500 ft.  It has access to fishing and hiking.  It also has vault toilets, water and trash facilities. Unfortunately, trailer space is limited.
  • Portal - 11 miles southeast of Aspen on Hwy 82, then 7 miles on Lincoln Creek Road.  It has 7 campsites.  Their season ranges from June 18th - September 7th.  The elevation is 9,400 ft.  It has access to fishing and hiking.  It also has vault toilets, water and trash facilities.  Unfortunately, trailer space is limited.
  • Silver Bar - 5 miles southwest of Aspen on Maroon Creek Road.  It has 4 campsites.  Their season ranges from May 21st - September 30th.  The elevation is 8,460 ft.  It has no fishing access, but it does have hiking access.  It also has vault toilets, water and trash facilities.  Unfortunately, it does not accept trailers.
  • Silver Bell - 5 miles southwest of Aspen on Maroon Creek Road.  It has 4 campsites.  Their season ranges from May 21st - September 30th.  The elevation is 8,490 ft.  It has no fishing access, but it does have hiking access.  It has vault toilets, water and trash facilities. Unfortunately, it does not accept trailers.
  • Silver Queen* - 5 miles southwest of Aspen on Maroon Creek Road.  It has 6 campsites.  Their season ranges from May 21st - September 30th.  The elevation is 8,680 ft.  It has no fishing access, but it does have hiking access.  It has vault toilets, water and trash facilities. Unfortunately, it does not accept trailers.
  • Weller - 9 miles southeast of Aspen on Hwy 82.  It has 11 campsites.  Their season ranges from May 29th - September 30th.  The elevation is 9,400 ft.  It has access to fishing and hiking.  It also has vault toilets, water and trash facilities. Unfortunately, trailer space is limited.
  • RV Aspen-Basalt Campground - 970-927-3405 - located just west of Basalt on Highway 82 (approximately 20 miles).  They have camper hook-ups and a number of other utilities.

Public Showers

  • The Aspen Recreation Center (ARC) - 970-544-4100: Shower facility open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Friday, 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturdays, and 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Sundays at a daily admission fee of $12/person (keep the receipt to come and go during the day).  That daily admission fee includes access to not only the showers, but to the climbing tower, the 6-lane lap pool, a leisure pool, a jacuzzi, a 2-story double loop water slide, water sprays, a wet & dry sauna, a steam room, an NHL-sized hockey rink, and an audio-visual training room. www.aspenrecreation.com
  • The Red Brick - 970-920-5140 -110 E. Hallam: Shower facility is open to the general public between 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. for a fee of $4.
