Independence Pass is CLOSED for the winter season.
Independence Pass is generally open from Memorial Day until snow falls in earnest, usually in late October to early November. During the winter months, heavy snowfall at the highest elevations of the Pass makes it impossible to travel. If travelling by car, you must take I-70 to Glenwood Springs.
