The first show of the series is the oddball jazz orchestra Vaud and the Villains, which will suit up at the Wheeler on October 1 at 7:30 p.m. Self-described as “one over the top, sexy, scintillating, dang good time,” Vaud and the Villains is a 19-piece 1930s New Orleans orchestra and cabaret. “Quirky” is an understatement when it comes to this genre-bending spectacle featuring banjos, tubas, scantily clad dancers and a tinge of steampunk. With echoes of Bruce Springsteen’s Seeger Session Band, they are Americana Noir meets Moulin Rouge.
