December 14: Holmes Rolston III on Nature, Value and Duty
Holmes Rolston, III, is University Distinguished Professor of Philosophy at Colorado State University. He his an author, founding president of the International Society for Environmental Ethics, a founding editor of the journal Environmental Ethics and a founding member of the International Society for Science and Religion.
January 11: Rock Climber and Business Entrepreneur Matt Segal
Matt Segal is a rock climber who hastraveled the world, from China to Argentina, mostly focusing on establishing the most difficult traditional climbs he can find. Some of his proudest lines include The Iron Monkey (5.14) in Eldorado Canyon, CO, The Orangutan Overhang (5.14-) in Independence Pass, CO and Air China (5.13d R) in Liming, China. He has also collaborated with scientists and photographers on National Geographic expeditions.
February 21: Holy Cross CEO Bryan Hannegan on Utilities and the Future
With nearly 20 years of experience in and around the electricity industry, Dr. Hannegan brings a unique combination of technical knowledge, policy and government background, and management experience. Prior to being named HCE’s CEO, Dr. Hannegan led multiple research and development teams at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory and the Electric Power Research Institute,and alsoco-founded the U.S. Department of Energy’s Grid Modernization Laboratory Consortium.
March 21: Brian Dunbar on Healthy, Regenerative Communities
Brian Dunbar is Executive Director of the Institute for the Built Environment (IBE) and Professor Emeritus at Colorado State University. Professor Dunbar holds two degrees in architecture from the University of Michigan and is a LEED Accredited Professional. Professor Dunbar has taught Interior Design, Construction Management, and Sustainability courses at Colorado State and created the graduate emphasis in sustainable building, professional certification courses in green building, and sustainable design and construction courses offered in Costa Rica and on the island of St. John, USVI.
