The Meeting Film Fest returns to Aspen for its 16th season in a new setting. Due to Covid-19, The Meeting will see a change of venue to the Audi Drive-In Theater this year. The Meeting Film Fest will feature a carefully curated collection of the year’s best ski, snowboard and adventure cinema, featuring local riders in local mountains. Gather the squad and enjoy this visual powder day as we start the countdown to the 2020-2021 winter season.
Sept. 18: Matchstick Productions – “Huck Yeah”
Matchstick Productions new ski film is packed with the best skiers in the world charging hard and having fun in some of the most spectacular locations around the world. With the global shut-down due to the pandemic, this film is a reminder of how important it is to spend time outdoors with friends having fun. “Huck Yeah” is a balance of personal action segments and location/story-based segments that combine progressive skiing with interesting stories.
“Huck Yeah” is part of Matchstick Production’s world premiere and features long-time local, Klaus Obermeyer.
Sept. 24: Teton Gravity Research – “Make Believe”
“Make Believe” celebrates athletes who have committed to the ethos of “living the dream,” and honors those who have fallen deeply in love with mountain life. It showcases people who have chosen to live their lives in a particular way and who choose to make and believe in their dreams.
Aspen skier Colter Hinchliffe is featured in the TGR film. “I was really excited to have the TGR team in my hometown of Aspen, Colorado this past winter. I had a lot of passion behind making this segment happen, a whole lifetime of it to be honest and I’m eager to share the content with my community and show off my beautiful mountain town to the world,” says Hinchliffe.
Sept. 26: Salomon TV – “Transamericana” feat Rickey Gates
In 2017, Ricky Gates ran from South Carolina to San Francisco - a journey of 3700 miles over the course of five months. The run was about getting to know both himself and his country to a much better degree - especially during these times of divisive politics and polarized societies within our own borders. The result of this run was a book, “Cross Country” published in April of this year by Chronicle Books and a 75 minute feature film “Transamericana.”
Aspen Snowmass will be handing out sponsor prizes at the end of each film including a pair of Head Kore skis, Stance socks and a variety of Helly Hanson jackets and base layers.
