Dating back to 1951, Wintersköl™ is Aspen’s annual toast to winter, a celebration of snow, spirit, and the people who call Aspen home. This year’s theme, “It’s Cooler With Ullr”, calls on the Norse snow god, Ullr, for a season (and Wintersköl) full of fresh powder. Wintersköl™ brings the community together for a full lineup of events; check out a day-by-day snapshot of a few favorites:

Thursday, December 11th
📌 Wheeler Opera House (6:00 pm) & Zig Zag (10:00 pm)
Screenings of retro ski films, followed by the Aspen Extreme movie, set the stage for the action-packed days ahead. The night opens with two short films from the Aspen Historical Society archives, giving the audience a glimpse into the 74-year history of Wintersköl™ and its beloved traditions. Then, the iconic 90s hit, Aspen Extreme, tells the relatable story of two ski bums who drop everything to live the dream in Aspen. Suit up in your best retro ski outfit for the screenings and afterwards, head over to Zig Zag to party like it’s the 90s with DJ beats, late-night drink specials, and a costume contest.
Friday, December 12th
📌 Wagner Park (9:00 am)
Friday morning kicks off with KIDSCULPT! Presented by Anderson Ranch, KIDSCULPT challenges teams of local kids to a friendly snow sculpture showdown where blocks of snow become works of art. With a steaming cup of cocoa in hand, cheer on the teams as you watch Wagner Park transform into a winter gallery.
Saturday, December 13th
📌 Wagner Park (3:00 pm)
The annual Soupsköl competition in Wagner Park is a Wintersköl™ favorite. This year, 15 local businesses will compete for the coveted Soupsköl soup pot and bragging rights. Check out each stand and sample a variety of soups made by top-notch restaurants, caterers, and local organizations. Whether debating about which soup is the best or just catching up, running into people you know, or getting to know people you don't, is what Wintersköl™ is all about. The fun continues into the evening with a bonfire and finishes off with fireworks and a torchlight descent on Aspen Mountain.
Sunday, December 14th
📌 Buttermilk Mountain (8:30 am)
Top off Winersköl™ with a locals' favorite, Uphill Breakfast Club, for a rewarding workout and mountaintop meal alongside scenic views. Catch up with friends and meet new ones as you climb Buttermilk (uphill pass required). Enjoy a free meal (until the food runs out), exciting giveaways, and community spirit at the Cliffhouse before a well-earned run down.
