6 Cozy Cafés for Fall Days

Fall Colors in Aspen, Colorado

As crisp mountain air fills the valley and dustings of snow cover the peaks, enjoy mornings or afternoons relaxing with a warm drink in hand. After wandering through town or a morning on the trails, settle in at one of downtown Aspen’s coziest cafés.

  1. Explore Books and Coffee

Nestled in a quaint, Victorian-style house on Main Street, Explore Books has been a community staple since opening in 1975. From classic novels to books written by local authors, Explore Books offers a range of genres and plenty of cozy spots to start reading. On a blustery fall day, wander through the store and browse the books before settling in with coffee and a pastry at their upstairs café.

  1. Gorsuch Ski Café

Located at the base of Aspen Mountain, Gorsuch Ski Café has ski town charm, serving their coffee in cups dotted with tiny skiers and selling their coffee alongside ski gear. The cozy, chalet décor and community tables bring people together and give the café a laid-back, inviting feel. From breakfast burritos to freshly baked pastries to light salads, Gorsuch offers high quality coffee with a variety of dishes for any time of day.

  1. Felix Roasting Company

New York City-based, Felix Roasting Co. is located at the historic Hotel Jerome, bringing their high-quality coffee and house-made non-dairy milks and syrups to the mountains. Beautifully designed with velvet stools and booths, vintage-inspired paintings, and gold accents, visiting the café is an experience. Enjoy a fall afternoon of festive, specialty drinks, like their Hickory Smoked S’mores Latte, along with a fresh pastry, bagel, or toast.

  1. Sant Ambroeus

Sant Ambroeus is known for their variety of espresso drinks and Milanese fare. Settle in on their vintage Italian sofas, or order at the counter and wander through town with your warm drink in hand. The fluffy tiramisu, assortment of cookies, and their signature Sant Ambroeus drink, a blend of espresso and thick hot chocolate, are a few favorites.

  1. Swedish Hill

Located on the rooftop of the Aspen Art Museum, Swedish Hill is the spot for taking in the fall colors while sipping a warm drink. Enjoy views of Aspen Mountain from inside the café or on the outdoor patio if it’s a bluebird fall day. On your way out, wander through the Aspen Art Museum and explore the exhibitions.

  1. MOLLIE Aspen

Enjoy a warm drink in a cozy, inviting setting at MOLLIE Aspen’s café. Whether you’re starting your day or looking for a relaxing place to spend the afternoon, kick back with coffee or tea and house-made pastries in the heart of downtown Aspen. If it's cold enough, lounge by the fireplace while enjoying your drink.
