Historical Wedding Venues in Aspen
Celebrate at one of Aspen’s Historic Venues
The town of Aspen is home to several beautiful wedding venues, but some of the most unique and historically rich spaces are found within the Aspen Historical Society (AHS) properties. Offering a blend of scenic backdrops, authentic charm, and meaningful connection to Aspen’s past, these venues provide memorable settings for weddings.
Aspen Historical Society offers 3 distinctive venues for outdoor weddings and events
The Wheeler/Stallard Museum is an architectural jewel, set on its own city block and surrounded by swaying cottonwoods. Couples can create a Victorian-inspired garden party or elevate the experience with a tented lawn. This venue accommodates up to 200 guests, and events exceeding 100 guests require additional bathroom rentals. Rentals are available from Memorial Day through early October.
Where rustic charm meets Aspen history, this unique property features sweeping 360-degree mountain views. It’s an ideal setting for a Western-themed rehearsal dinner or a tented reception that highlights the site’s historic mill backdrop. Located at the western entrance to Aspen, this venue is available from mid-June through early October, accommodates up to 150 guests, and requires shuttle transportation as there is no on-site parking for guests or vendors. Events over 100 guests require bathroom rentals.
Steeped in local history, Ashcroft Ghost Town offers a quintessential Rocky Mountain setting for a truly memorable ceremony. Located on public land within the White River National Forest, this site provides stunning scenery, though privacy is not guaranteed. Available June through September, Ashcroft accommodates up to 70 guests and is available for ceremonies only. Receptions, tents, tables, chairs, and catering are not permitted.
Couples hosting their wedding at AHS venues also have access to the museums either the Wheeler/Stallard Museum or Holden/Marolt Mining &
Ranching Museum, as an added value experience for guests to explore Aspen’s
rich local history.
Both museum properties include interior spaces where wedding parties can get ready, offering a convenient and comfortable start to the day. Additionally, AHS provides on-site staff support to assist with day-of coordination, helping ensure everything runs smoothly and allowing couples to focus on their celebration.
The Aspen Historical Society truly embodies the culture and spirit of Aspen.
Its properties preserve and share the town’s rich heritage, bringing local
history to life through thoughtfully maintained, registered historic sites. The
Wheeler/Stallard Museum and Holden/Marolt Mining & Ranching Museum offer authentic charm that few venues in Aspen can replicate, giving guests a
meaningful sense of place and connection to the community’s unique past.
