- Hike up Ajax Mountain: Labor Day Weekend is the perfect opportunity to complete that end-of-summer hiking goal. The strenuous uphill climb will take around 2+ hours but the views at the top, lunch at Sundeck, and a free gondola ride down are well worth the hike. Hike up September 1st where you can enjoy Bluegrass music on the outdoor patio.
- If you didn't get a ticket for JAS Labor Day Festival, you can still head over to Belly Up Aspen and dance the night away with some amazing headliners and performers.
- Bike up the Rio Grande Trail: Perfect for families and bikers of all levels, the flat Rio Grande Trail runs from the Aspen U.S. post office all the way to Glenwood Springs. The trail runs adjacent to the Roaring Fork River, so for the entire ride you can expect to see waterfalls, fisherman, and various wildlife on your bike ride. When you’re back in town, cool off at the Grottos, an easily accessible area through a series of short trails. Within a few minutes from the trailhead, you can access ice caves, view the waterfalls, or lounge in the sun on the rocks with a picnic. This is a great area for families and those seeking a beautiful view without the long trek to get there.
