Get ready for an action-packed Labor Day Weekend in Aspen! From live music at the JAS Labor Day Experience to the annual Mother Lode Volleyball Classic, soak up the last of summer in the mountains. Check out our guide to plan your Labor Day Weekend in Aspen.
- JAS Labor Day Experience: Hosted in the Snowmass Town Park, the JAS Labor Day Experience is an annual favorite for locals and visitors alike. The festival features some of today's biggest artists including Imagine Dragons, Lenny Kravitz, and Luke Combs. For general admission, pack a blanket and sit back on the lawn to relax and enjoy the music under the open sky or stand closer to the stage for an up-close view. For concert goers looking for VIP treatment, premium ticket options are also available for both single day tickets or the entire three day experience. Ticket purchasing information can be found here; be sure to get yours before they sell out!
- Motherlode Volleyball Classic: Held every year in Aspen over Labor Day Weekend, the Mother Lode Volleyball Classic has evolved from a small BBQ party to one of the top pro-am events in volleyball. Volleyball enthusiasts from across the world flock to Aspen for this action-packed three-day tournament. Attendees of all levels are invited to sign up to play or watch and participate in the parties around town that the tournament brings to Aspen. Signup information can be found here.
Hike up Ajax Mountain: Labor Day Weekend is the perfect opportunity to complete that end-of-summer hiking goal. The strenuous uphill climb will typically take 2+ hours but the views at the top, lunch at Sundeck, and a free gondola ride down make the trek worth it. Hike up on August 31st to enjoy live Bluegrass on the outdoor patio.
- If you didn't get a ticket for the JAS Labor Day Experience, head over to Belly Up Aspen on Friday night and dance the night away with throwback tunes from the Spazmatics.
Bike the Rio Grande Trail: Perfect for families and bikers of all levels, the flat Rio Grande Trail runs from the Aspen U.S. Post Office all the way to Glenwood Springs. The trail runs adjacent to the Roaring Fork River, offering beautiful scenery throughout the ride. When you’re back in town, drive up Independence Pass and cool off at the Grottos, accessed from the short Grottos Trail. Within a few minutes from the trailhead, you can access ice caves, view the waterfalls, or lounge in the sun on the rocks with a picnic.
- Go camping: Looking to get out of town and enjoy the end of summer over Labor Day Weekend? Pack up and pitch a tent at one of Aspen’s many nearby campgrounds and enjoy a night under the stars. To learn more about camping, click here.
