Patrick Summers at Explore Books: Tapestries
Explore Books hosts an evening with celebrated American conductor, author, and educator Patrick Summers on Thursday, August 8 at 5:30 PM, in celebration of his new book, Tapestries: Connections From an Artistic Life.
Summers—Co-Artistic Director of Aspen Opera Theater and VocalARTS, longtime Artistic Director of Houston Grand Opera and one of the most influential figures in American opera—will join Chris Mohr, Aspen Public Radio’s classical host and commentator, for a conversation about the fifty‑essay collection that reflects on a life shaped by music, creativity, and the artists who inspired him. A book signing will follow.
Tapestries offers readers an intimate look at Summers’s artistic journey, weaving together stories from the podium, portraits of legendary performers and composers, and reflections on the evolving world of opera. As Summers Aspen VocalARTS co-director Renée Fleming writes in her foreword, Summers’s insights are “erudite, witty, and openhearted,” making this a must‑read for music lovers and arts enthusiasts alike.
