10 Things to Pack for Spring in Aspen

Spring in Aspen

Spring is Aspen's quiet season, providing a refreshing and relaxing mountain getaway. Already starting to pack? Don't forget these 10 things to experience spring in Aspen to the fullest:

  1. Camera

Aspen is famous for its stunning mountain landscape, offering scenic views at every turn. Vibrant greenery layers the valley floor, and trees begin to bloom, while snow remains on the mountains, creating a striking contrast. In May, the iconic Maroon Bells and Independence Pass are expected to open to vehicles for the season. Capture Aspen’s spring beauty with a camera- the photos will last a lifetime!

  1. Hiking boots

As the snow melts, lower elevation hikes are a scenic way to spend time outside and take in Aspen’s natural beauty. From paved riverside paths to rewarding mountain climbs, lower elevation hikes provide a variety of terrain and spectacular mountain views.

  1. Picnic Blanket

Looking for a relaxing, leisurely way to spend time outside? There are a variety of parks and open spaces scattered around downtown Aspen. Whether you’re ready to bask in the sun, cool off in the shade, relax to the sounds of nearby streams, or admire views of Aspen Mountain, there’s a park for you! Bring a picnic blanket to enjoy a peaceful afternoon of relaxation.

  1. Sunglasses

Spring days are full of sunshine and warmer weather. Pack a pair of sunglasses to rock while strolling in and out of shops or exploring the outdoors. Many of Aspen’s delicious dining spots have sun-soaked patios, making sunglasses a must.

  1. Robe

Spring in Aspen unfolds at a slow, relaxed pace, offering a serene mountain escape. Bring your favorite robe or borrow one at the hotel for lounging around or visiting one of Aspen’s many health clubs or spas.

  1. Itinerary

Aspen offers a diverse range of experiences, including arts and culture events, outdoor recreation, shopping, fine dining, and more. Plan your trip and get inspired before your arrival with our sample itineraries.

  1. An Extra Bag… or Suitcase

Aspen is home to world-class shopping, offering everything from local boutiques to high-end jewelry to art galleries and more. Be on the lookout for end of season deals and discounts during spring. With enticing spring sales and an extensive variety of shops, you’ll need extra space to bring your purchases home!

  1. Layers

Don’t let the sunny, bluebird skies fool you! In the blink of an eye, there could be a light rain shower or even snowfall. Aspen’s spring weather is unpredictable, making a rain jacket and warm coat must-haves.

  1. Water Bottle

Aspen has an elevation of 7,891 feet! At high altitude, it is especially important to stay hydrated. Aspen is home to some of the best drinking water in the nation, sourcing most of its tap water from the Castle and Maroon creeks. Skip buying bottled water and bring a reusable water bottle to hydrate on the go, reduce waste, and feel your best.

  1. Sun Protection

While spring weather isn’t hot, the sun is strong, making it important to wear sun protection. Apply sunscreen and don’t forget your hat on outdoor adventures!
