Fall is filled with golden foliage, world-class outdoor adventures, vibrant arts and culture, and more, making it one of the best times to visit Aspen.
1. IMBA Gold-Level Mountain Biking: The Roaring Fork Valley reigns as one of America’s top mountain biking destinations; in early 2020, Aspen was declared a Gold-Level Ride Center by the International Mountain Biking Association. Explore the area's award-winning mountain bike trails while surrounded by spectacular fall colors. Along with top-notch mountain biking, Aspen offers scenic road rides and rewarding gravel routes. Whether riding on the riverside Rio Grande Trail, biking to the iconic Maroon Bells, or tackling a challenging ride up Independence Pass, there is terrain for a range of abilities. For bicycle rentals and trail recommendations, contact local experts at Aspen Velo or Four Mountain Sports.
2. Trail Running: Run the Golden Leaf Half Marathon, or run the route individually, to experience one of the most beautiful races in the Rockies. The challenging course runs from Snowmass to Aspen, taking participants through golden aspen groves and offering breathtaking fall beauty at every turn.
3. Al Fresco Dining: Aspen is home to many world-class restaurants, ranging from fine dining to family friendly. Kick off the day with an outdoor breakfast or enjoy an evening meal alongside colorful mountain views.
