Whether it’s a large family gathering, a big meeting, or a small corporate retreat, keeping a group entertained after sunset is never a challenge in Aspen. From concerts to theater performances, walking tours and films, here’s a rundown of our favorite ways to explore more of Aspen after dark:
Team Building:
Get what you came for – a connected, motivated and fun team bonding experience in the mountains.
- Summer: Your team can learn about the history of Aspen while competing in a good-natured scavenger hunt throughout downtown Aspen. Teams will complete a series of tasks and answer questions to navigate through town. (Don’t worry it’s only 12 blocks.) Tasks may include beer tasting, exploring historic buildings or shaking down locals for information. All scavenger hunts are customizable and take about 3 hours to complete. (Available June - September)
- Winter: For an unforgettable evening activity, we suggest a nighttime snowshoe, horse-drawn sleighride or cross-country ski to dinner at Pine Creek Cookhouse in the Castle Creek Valley. Trek 1.5 miles to a beautiful timber lodge where an a la carte menu of mountain favorites is served.
Nightlife:
Aspen is known for its incredible nightlife. Aspenites love live music, a stiff drink and a place to dance, so you will find all of these things in abundance here.
- Check out the historic Wheeler Opera House for a diverse menu of live music, film screenings, summer opera and comedy throughout the year. The Wheeler is also available as a private event space for up to 475 people from mid-August to mid-June.
- Aspen Brewing Co.’s Aspen Tap makes choosing an award-winning brew an easy decision while drinking in stunning views of Aspen Mountain. Organize a tour of its production facilities and end the night at the tasting room in downtown Aspen.
- Dance halls abound in the West, and Aspen is no exception. Check out Silver City (one of Aspen’s many nicknames). This mountain saloon located in the Elks Building serves up live country music, whisky and a jukebox filled with favorites or join for karaoke on Monday nights!
- Belly Up Aspen has a great lineup of live bands and solo acts. Reserve a section of the club for your group and pair with a great menu of drinks and food to sustain them into the early morning hours.
Arts and Culture:
What sets Aspen apart from other ski towns? It’s immense arts and culture community. For groups there are many ways to enjoy our town’s cultural offerings:
- Music: The Aspen Music Festival and School put Aspen on the cultural map more than 50 years ago. Today they host one of the top classical music festivals in the country with more than 300 events (June - August), as well as a winter concert series at Harris Concert Hall.
- Art: A gem in the West End, The Resnick Center for Herbert Bayer Studies (known as “The Bayer Center”) hosts exhibits based on the work of Aspen local and internationally renowned artist and designer Herbert Bayer and the Bauhaus movement from which he sprang.
- Dance: Aspen Santa Fe Ballet hosts internationally renowned dance companies in Aspen throughout the year. Catch MOMIX and Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlow live at the Aspen District Theater.
Aspen’s dining scene is legendary for its quality and diversity, and in 2023 four Aspen restaurants were recognized by the internationally renowned MICHELIN Guide.
- Bosq, helmed by Chef Barclay Dodge, was awarded one MICHELIN star for his uniquely Aspen menu with Scandinavian influence that focuses on foraging, fermenting and sourcing from local Colorado farms.
- For other MICHELIN Recommended restaurants in Aspen, try Prospect at the Hotel Jerome, Element 47 at The Little Nell and Mawa’s Kitchen at the Aspen Airport Business Center.
