Experience the magic of a student-mentor relationship when Daniil Trifonov teams up with his former teacher, Armenian-American pianist Sergei Babayan. Topping off the program is Rachmaninoff's youthful 1st Suite for Two Pianos, with its thrilling finale reminiscent of tolling bells and Russian liturgical chant. The more mature 2nd Suite is full of rich melodies which evoke Rachmaninoff’s popular 2nd Piano Concerto, a tour de force sure to display the virtuosity and almost telepathic connection between these two pianistic powerhouses.
