Aspen Film: Radical Wednesdays

02/05/2025
06:30 PM - 09:30 PM

Dust off your 80s Ski Attire and join Aspen Film every Wednesday night in February for our RADICAL WEDNESDAYS series of beloved retro ski + throwback winter sports films.

February 5 - HOT DOG, The Movie (96 minutes)

When a hopeful young American hot-dogger goes pole-to-pole with an arrogant Austrian pro, the snow really starts to fly! But as hot as it is on the mountain, it gets even hotter off when the pro's ex-girlfriend sets her eyes on the new blood. Who'll win the competition and the girl? Only a race to end all races can determine which skier can really cut the mustard!

February 12 - Greg Stump’s THE GOOD, THE RAD, AND THE GNARLY (75 minutes)

Departing from anything traditional in ski films. Greg Stump’s “THE GOOD, THE RAD AND THE GNARLY is designed as a visual music album. It chronicles a night in the life of Harry Ackerman (played by Dr. Delam star Minor Rootes), a regular man who has a series of disconcerting nightmares.

Snowboard with a teenage Craig Kelly and Damian Sanders. Skateboard with the Converse Skate Team that includes 17-year-old Tony Hawk, Steve Caballero, Christian Hosoi, Lance Mountain, and Rodney Mullen, windsurf with Robby Naish, and ski with the world’s greatest ski bums of 1987… Scott Kennett, Geoff Stump, Lynne Weiland, Robert Aguirre, Chris “The Hatchetman” Haslock and Jeff “Wiley Coyote) Coffin.

It features the original music of Tom Blackwell, Ted Musgrave, Bob Thompsom, and Barrington Levy.

February 19 - Greg Stump’s FISTFUL OF MOGUL’S (57 minutes)

This two-year adventure is a collaboration between Glen Plake and Greg Stump. FISTFUL OF MOGULS is the story of extreme legend Glen Plake’s prediction two years before the 1998 Nagano Olympics that Jonny Moseley would win the gold medal. He was right, and the two-year adventure is hilarious and beautiful. This celebration of mogul skiing is fueled by a powerful soundtrack led by Seal, Art of Noise, Adamski, and Bran Van 3000.

February 26 - BLADES OF GLORY - also the third film in the Science on Screen Series (93 minutes)
