Watercolor Workshop: Painting Plein Air

06/25/2025
05:00 PM - 08:00 PM

With the incredible beauty of Hallam Lake or Toklat as the studio, join Amy Beidleman and learn how to capture the essence of a scene quickly into small vignettes. In this three-hour workshop, basic sketching and painting methods will be taught utilizing concepts of line, shapes and value, and adding paint for texture and color to capture objects and scenes in nature.

Join ACES at Hallam Lake on June 25.

Join ACES at the Catto Center at Toklat on July 30.

All abilities welcome! Materials list will be provided upon registration. Bring your own painting supplies or use the instructor’s for a small fee.

About the Instructor:

Amy Beidleman is a local artist. Painting watercolor for more than just a hobby was always a dream of Amy’s until a few years ago when a friend saw her work and offered to sell prints as cards in her Aspen store. That was in 2010, now Amy has her cards in numerous shops in Colorado and Wisconsin. She also teaches art classes, sells her paintings and prints and has done commissioned work for businesses and individuals. She continues to do art shows in Aspen and the Roaring Fork Valley and beyond, and is also a water media curator for the Aspen Chapel Gallery. For over 20 years, Amy was CFO of a couple local banks which gave her a strong financial background to start her own business. She is mostly self-taught, studying with some well-known artists, such as Alvaro Castagnet, Thomas Schaller, Ted Nuttal, Andy Evansen and local Sarah Peterson. Amy has lived and worked in Aspen, Colorado since 1978. She is married to Neal and they have two children, Finn and Reed.  Amy supports a number of non-profit organizations through the creation of artwork and donations of cards.
