Join Aspen Words for a conversation with veteran ski journalist and environmental writer Heather Hansman, who will be discussing her new book, “Powder Days: Ski Bums, Ski Towns, and the Future of Chasing Snow,” which takes readers on an exhilarating journey into the hidden history of American skiing and reckons with how the sport is evolving in the face of climate change and rising wealth inequality with Aspen Skiing Company’s SVP of sustainability, Auden Schendler.
Heather Hansman, the author of “Powder Days: Ski Bums, Ski Towns, and the Future of Chasing Snow,” and “Downriver: Into the Future of Water in the West,” is an award-winning journalist and the environmental columnist at Outside magazine. She’s a former editor at both Skiing and Powder magazines and a contributing editor at Backcountry magazine. Her work, which focuses on the relationship between people and places, has appeared in The Atlantic, Smithsonian, The Guardian, and The New York Times, among others. She was a 2021 Aspen Words Writer in Residence.
