The dichotomy of Buttermilk as the home of the X Games as well as the best beginner skiing in Colorado might be confusing at first, but trust us, the “biscuit” can handle the diversity.
The mountain is made up of 3 distinct areas: Tiehack, well-loved by uphillers throughout the day, main Buttermilk, and West Buttermilk, a mellow beginners paradise. Aspen Skiing Company hosts full moon dinners on Buttermilk select evenings throughout the winter.
On mountain restaurants include the Cliffhouse, at the top of the mountain, boasting a beautiful view of Pyramid Peak, and Buttermilk Mountain Lodge, located at the base of the hill on the main Buttermilk side.
