You are visiting the ancestral territory of the Uncompahgre Tribe of the Ute Nation or Nuche. We honor the inherent stewardship native people have for the land, waters and air in which our residents and visitors continue to have the privilege to revel in. We strive to learn from the Ute tradition of living in harmony with the environment and take action to sustain it for generations to come.
Land Acknowledgement
Through land acknowledgments, institutions use a public statement to express a commitment to the history between the institution, indigenous peoples, and the land. Given that Aspen is the ancestral home of the Ute Nation, ACRA began the process of creating a statement specific to our organization. Many of our arts & cultural organizations have begun implementing these statements as well, either spoken at public programming or in a plaque or website statement.
