ACES and City of Aspen to host community Earth Day Celebration and Green Drinks Kick-off |

Aspen, Colorado, April 13, 2017 — Aspen Center for Environmental Studies (ACES) and the City of Aspen invite the public to ACES at Hallam Lake on Wednesday, April 19th from 5-7PM for a free community Earth Day celebration and to ring in the 2017 Green Drinks season. ACES and the City are collaborating for the third year to gather community members in honor of Earth Day (April 22nd). The free event for all ages includes libations and light snacks featuring a meatless menu of ingredients from ACES at Rock Bottom Ranch and other local producers. A variety of participating local organizations such as Aspen Historical Society, Aspen T.R.E.E., Citizens Climate Lobby, Clean Rivers Initiative, CORE, Indivisible Aspen, USFS White River National Forest, and others, will host interactive Earth Day-themed activities including games, advocacy opportunities, a photo booth, willow-planting, giveaways, visits with Smokey Bear, and more. The event also marks the first Green Drinks of 2017. Green Drinks is an international trend that brings citizens interested in environmental issues together for informal gatherings. Aspen's Green Drinks, organized by the City’s ZGreen initiative, is hosted monthly from April through November at local businesses and partner organizations in Aspen. Please walk, bike, bus or carpool to ACES at Hallam Lake as parking is limited. 2-hour free parking is available in the West End. To access the preserve from the West End, follow the paved trail behind the Red Brick building to the Nick DeWolfe Stairway to Hallam Lake.
