‘American Idol’ Star Crystal Bowersox To Play The Historic Wheeler Opera House This Saturday

with Special Guest Grammy-nominated Seth Glier

Aspen, CO (November 29, 2016): The Wheeler Opera House will present Americana singer-songwriter and “American Idol” star Crystal Bowersox as the opening performance of the venue’s 2016-17 winter season on Saturday, December 3 at 7:30 p.m. Bowersox, who was the popular runner-up in the ninth season of ‘Idol,’ has released two albums of music ranging from rock to indie folk and gospel. Special guest Seth Glier will also perform. Single tickets are $25 with a limited number of $75 VIP tickets that include a meet-and-greet with Bowersox. Tickets are available now at the Wheeler Opera House Box Office (970.920.5770/ aspenshowtix.com). The Wheeler Opera House is located at 320 E. Hyman Ave., Aspen, CO.

A native of Elliston, Ohio, Crystal Bowersox moved to Chicago at the age of 17 to pursue her music career. After busking at several train stations and performing at open mics around the city, she auditioned for the ninth season of “American Idol,” where guest judge Shania Twain said that she had a “raw, natural talent.” Her competition on the series was complicated by health concerns stemming from her type 1 diabetes, an issue she later announced she hoped to bring awareness to in her post-“Idol” career. Indeed, one of her most prominent charities throughout her touring life has been the Lilly Diabetes care organization.

Bowersox’s debut album, “Farmer’s Daughter,” was released in December 2010, shortly after her “American Idol” success, and peaked at Number 2 on the US Rock charts. She performed the album’s title song on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” days later. Her sophomore album was released over two years later, titled “All That for This.”

Bowersox’s special guest performer, Seth Glier, is a Grammy Award-nominated acoustic singer-songwriter from Massachusetts. A strong advocate for autism awareness, Glier says that his years taking care of his non-verbal older brother were some of his biggest influences on his life and music. The result has been four road-tested albums performed by Glier with his guitar and piano. He and Bowersox are no strangers, either—she appeared in a duet music video performance of the title track of his latest album, “If I Could Change One Thing,” last year.
