Snowmass Village, Colo. (June 9, 2016) — Anderson Ranch Arts Center, a premier art making destination and catalyst for critical dialogue in the contemporary art world, announces it has received a $25,000 grant from the Dresner Foundation in support of its high school scholarship program.
“The generous donation from the foundation will support young artists from low income areas of Colorado to experience all that Anderson Ranch Arts Center has to offer and will encourage them to pursue their creativity in high school and beyond,” explains Nancy Wilhelms, Executive Director of Anderson Ranch Arts Center.
The Dresner grant will create scholarships for a total of nine junior and senior level high school students and three art teacher chaperones. Participants will be chosen from three regional high schools, including Coal Ridge High School in New Castle, Grand Valley High School in Parachute, and Rifle High School in Rifle.
“As in-school arts education continues to be reduced due to budget cuts and time constraints, the Dresner Foundation is proud to support Anderson Ranch Arts Center’s efforts to engage students who may not otherwise have this opportunity,” notes Lori Dresner, President of the Dresner Foundation. “They are able to work alongside artists of all levels from across the country and around the world to explore new ideas, hone their art making skills and engage in meaningful dialogue about their local and global community.”
Scholarships will underwrite art-making experiences for one-week summer workshops, including all tuition costs and fees, housing, meals in the Anderson Ranch Café and art supplies. To date, this is the largest grant Anderson Ranch has received for the high school scholarship program.
