ANDERSON RANCH WELCOMES SARAH HARRELSON, PHILAE KNIGHT, MIKE LYON AND ANNE NELSON REYES TO THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES

Aspen/Snowmass, Colorado (March 28, 2018) — Anderson Ranch Arts Center, a premier destination for art-making and critical dialog in the contemporary art world, is pleased to welcome four newly-elected members to its Board of Trustees, effective March 15, 2018.Sarah Harrelson, Philae Knight, Mike Lyon and Anne Nelson Reyes join the organization’s Board in its efforts to fulfill Anderson Ranch’s mission of enriching lives with art, inspiration and community. Teddy Greenspan will also join as a Non-Trustee Finance Committee Member. Through their deep interest in Anderson Ranch, these individuals will strengthen the organization both intellectually and artistically. David Fuente will continue to serve as Chair of the Board.

Sarah Harrelson has more than 20 years of media and publishing experience. Before founding Cultured Magazine in 2011, she served as the Editor-in-chief of Ocean Drive Magazine and of Art Basel in Miami Beach’s annual magazine. Harrelson also rebranded Florida InsideOut, a shelter-turned-art and design publication. Prior to that she launched The Miami Herald’s magazine division, most notably its Home & Design glossy between 2002 and 2006. Early in her career, she worked for W Magazine and Women’s Wear Daily (WWD), and has written for publications such as InStyle, Elle Decor, and UsWeekly. Harrelson has also served as an on-air style expert for Good Morning America, E! Television and CNN, and recently appeared on Access Hollywood as an expert on Miami. Since Cultured's launch, the magazine has won several national awards and garnered critical acclaim. Expanding from a biannual publication to a highly anticipated 5x/year title, Cultured counts Louis Vuitton, Cartier, Dior, Celine and Hermes among its advertisers and has partnered with several luxury brands on exclusive events, including the Harry Winston & Cultured Magazine Annual Art Basel Kick-Off Dinner. 

Harrelson serves as the Editor-in-chief and publisher of Bal Harbour Magazine, Editorial Director of Fort Lauderdale’s Venice Magazine, and Contributing Editor at Architectural Digest. As co-founder of Whitehaus Media Group, she has also published several art books for various galleries along with architecture-driven custom content. Harrelson serves on the Board of The Bass Museum and the committee for Breakthrough Miami. She recently served as a juror for final review for students in Columbia University’s Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation. She currently lives in Miami Beach with her husband, designer Austin Harrelson, and their three children (ages 17,14 and12).

Philae Knight joined the business development team at Phillips auction house in 2007, where she now leads the New York office of Client Advisory with a focus on the strategic growth of established and new art collections. During her tenure, Knight regularly secures winning bids for her clients while setting new world auction records. Prior to joining Phillips, Knight served as a private art advisor, curator and technology marketing manager to traditional companies seeking to transform their digital brands. She is currently active on several institutional committees, including The Whitney Museum and Anderson Ranch Arts Center. A Colorado native, you can find her hiking, skiing or spending time on her family ranch in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains when she's not traveling the world evangelizing artists. She graduated from Connecticut College with a BA in Art History.

Mike Lyon, the son of longtime Ranch supporters Lee and Joanne Lyon,  is a full-time visual artist working in Kansas City. He earned a BA in Architecture and Fine Arts from the University of Pennsylvania in 1973 and a BFA in Painting from the Kansas City Art Institute in 1975. “Mike Lyon has been called a farther of post-digital printmaking because of his extraordinary use of digital technologies. He has created large drawings, paintings, and woodblock prints using computer software that he has written or adapted to control machinery, and he has invented or adapted the machinery itself in order to manipulate traditional tools and materials using very unconventional methods.” – Modern Printmaking, a Guide to Traditional and Digital Techniques by Sylvie Covey, 2016. Lyon has exhibited extensively both nationally and internationally. His work is in the permanent collections of the Nelson Atkins Museum of Art, the Daum Museum of Contemporary Art, the Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art, the Marianna Kistler Beach Museum of Art, the Springfield Art Museum, the Spencer Museum of Art, the Art Museum at the University of Kentucky, McNeese State University, the Humbert Balsan Collection, the New York Public Library, the Department of Architecture, the University of Missouri, and more.

Anne Nelson Reyes is a graduate of George Washington University with extensive volunteer experience through her work with the President’s Advisory Committee on the Arts (PACA), the Norton Museum of Art’s Board of Trustees, the Lyric Opera of Chicago’s Board of Directors, and the Lyric Opera of Chicago’s Women’s Board, where she has been President and Executive Committee Member. Reyes’ commitment to the arts also includes volunteer work with the Art Institute Women’s Board, the Art Institute Committee on Contemporary Art, and her involvement with the Aspen Music Festival and School’s Board of Directors. She and her husband, Chris Reyes, have four children. The couple splits their time between Florida, Chicago and Aspen.
