Aspen Mountain to Open for Skiing and Riding Memorial Day Weekend

With 18 Inches of New Snow in the Past Week, Aspen Mountain’s Summer Operations

Kick-Off with Ski/Ride May 27-29

ASPEN SNOWMASS, Colo.—May 22, 2017—Due to recent winter storms that dropped 18 inches of new snow in the past week, Aspen Mountain will open for skiing and riding Memorial Day Weekend May 27-29. In addition to opening 130 acres of skiable terrain, Memorial Day Weekend marks the start of Aspen Mountain’s summer operations with access to sightseeing and food/beverage options at the Sundeck restaurant.

The Silver Queen Gondola will operate from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. for skiing and riding as well as sightseeing and the Ajax Express chairlift will run from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. for laps on Aspen Mountain’s upper blue runs as well as black runs such as Summit and Blondie’s.

“With a pleasant spring squall dropping additional snow on the top of Aspen Mountain last week, we are excited to kick-off our summer season with skiing/riding,” says Rich Burkley, vice president of mountain operations, Aspen Skiing Company. “The weekend will offer classic conditions for a Colorado multi-sport weekend with town green and the mountain white.”

Aspen Snowmass Premier passes as well as six and under passes are valid for summer operations and skiing. Pass extension days for Flex, Double Flex, Classic, Club Escape, School, AVSC and Mountain Collective passholders will be $21 for skiing and $12 for sightseeing. Lift tickets are $42 a day for adults, children (ages 4 and up), teens and seniors. Sightseeing tickets are $21. For more information please call 970-923-1227 or visit www.aspensnowmass.com/our-mountains/mountain-announcements.

Available through May, the Limelight Hotel offers Colorado locals a special lodging rate starting at only $145/night for Standard and Deluxe room types (based on availability), which includes the popular Limelight breakfast spread, free local shuttles, complimentary use of fat bikes, Wi-Fi and more.
