Aspen Premiere of GRINGA  - Wheeler Opera House

Tuesday, December 27 at 7:00pm

Aspen, CO --The Jake Foerster/Jazz Aspen Snowmass Music Arts Fund will present the Aspen Premiere of GRINGA at the Wheeler Opera House on Dec. 27th at 7:00pm, doors open at 6:30pm. Proceeds from the premiere will benefit the JFMAF/JAS Music Arts Scholarship programs.

Longtime local, EJ Foerster, (action director/associate producer) and former Aspenite, Patrick Hasburgh, (writer/ director) both of “Aspen Extreme” fame; have teamed up again on GRINGA, an indie feature filmed on location in Mexico. Snowmass filmmaker, Marny Eng, co-directs and produces alongside Foerster with Hasburgh penning this original screenplay.

“You need to participate in your own rescue”.

                                                    -- EJ Foerster-Director/Producer

The film stars Steve Zahn (White Lotus), Jess Gabor (Shameless), Judy Greer (Halloween Ends), Roselyn Sanchez (Fantasy Island) Jorge A. Jimenez (Narcos).

Large Marge Bickford (Jess Gabor), “Butt too big, boobs too small—generation XL”, navigates the halls of her high school and the chalked lines of its soccer field with the same sense of failure and dread. This is not a happy kid. Marge is most often alone but not necessarily lonely, just resigned. Life is passing her by and she doesn’t seem to mind…until the death of her nearly perfect Mom (Judy Greer).

Marge refuses to move to Arizona to live with her ultra-conservative grandparents and instead flees to Mexico to find her dad (Steve Zahn) …a washed-up pro soccer star who ran away to hide from his parental responsibilities, a bad marriage and the stink of failure.

But the humbled American soccer phenom has found his niche in a small village on Mexico’s central west coast. Jackson Bickford is the local handyman and beloved coach of the village’s ragtag women’s equipo de fútbol.

Until his daughter shows up.

GRINGA is a heartwarming story of healing and second chances. Somehow these two misfits learn to play the game of life…both of them hoping that a family can be put back together, even if all you have are the missing pieces.

Tickets ($25) are on-sale now at 12:00pm and can be purchased at www.aspenshowtix.com or at the Wheeler Opera House box office.

The premiere will benefit the JFMAF/JAS Music Arts Scholarship Fund. This local non-profit provides scholarships and mentorships to graduating high school seniors that are continuing their education and show promise in the medium of music and sound. Founded in 2014, over 40+ scholarships have been awarded to graduating seniors in Aspen and throughout the Roaring Fork Valley.
