Aspen Snowmass Announces Audi FIS Ski World Cup Schedule and Events: Return to America’s Downhill
ASPEN SNOWMASS, Colo.-- The 2022-2023 ski and ride season is officially underway and Aspen Snowmass is gearing up to host the Audi FIS Ski World Cup on America’s Downhill March 3-5, 2023. Races will be held on Aspen Mountain’s famed America’s Downhill™ course at the following times (MST):
· Friday, March 3 at 11:30 a.m.- Men's Downhill
· Saturday, March 4 at 11:00 a.m. - Men's Downhill
· Sunday, March 5 at 10:00 a.m.- Men’s Super-G
The weekend’s events will commence with an Opening Ceremony in Snowmass Village on Thursday, March 2. The ceremonies will feature an athlete bib draw, torchlight ski parade and fireworks. Events will continue throughout the weekend in downtown Aspen in Wagner Park with a three-day festival just down the hill from the race finish line. Wagner Park Festival will be open daily starting at 11 a.m. and will feature musical performances as part of the Bud Light Hi-Fi Concert Series, a sponsor village, athlete meet-and-greets, climate action-centered activations, a bar, food offerings and other vendors. Wagner Park will also play host to the Roch Cup awards ceremony.
How to Watch
In Person: Access to the grandstands at the finish area at the base of Lift 1A will be free and available to all in-person viewers. The venue entrance is located at the corner of Monarch and Summit Streets. The race venue will be open daily from 10 a.m.- 2 p.m. Lift tickets will be required to view various sections of the course on-mountain. On-mountain course viewing will be available via the Gondola, FIS and Ruthie’s lifts. Lift 1A will not be open to the public during the races.
At Home: New this racing season, FIS World Cup alpine, cross country, freestyle, snowboard, and freeski events held in the United States will be available to stream on all Outside+ platforms, including OutsideOnline.com, SkiMag.com, the Outside App, and Outside Watch. Live and delayed coverage will be available globally on NBC Sports, CNBC, and Peacock.
Volunteer Information
In partnership with the U.S. Ski & Snowboard, Aspen Skiing Company will manage the volunteer program for the Audi FIS Ski World Cup, during which local community members will have the opportunity to be a part of this racing tradition in Aspen by supporting the event.
Anyone assisting as a volunteer will receive custom-branded apparel from our sponsors, and will be invited to a volunteer thank you party, which will include dinner, drinks and prize giveaways.
VIP Passes on Sale Now
VIP passes are now on sale for the event, with early pricing until Friday, January 20. Passes can be purchased here. The three-day VIP package grants visitors access to the heated VIP tent at the race venue and an elevated deck overlooking the finish area, with an open bar and full-service meals from Aspen Snowmass chefs. VIPs will also receive a commemorative gift bag. Lift tickets are not included with VIP access.
Aspen Snowmass World Cup Legacy
With a storied history in ski racing, Aspen was the host of the first FIS World Championships held outside of the European borders in 1950, and has hosted more than 100 World Cup races for both men and women over the years. Aspen Snowmass most recently hosted the World Cup Finals in 2017, and the mountain and community are eager to bring this iconic global event back to our slopes for the first dedicated men’s event in Aspen since 2001.
