FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Celebrating 10 years of Aspen Brewing Company at Aspen Historical Society Event

History on Tap on March 13th will explore the legacy of beer in Aspen

March 8, 2018 – Aspen Historical Society (AHS) and Aspen Brewing Company (ABC) have partnered to celebrate history, beer, and the history of beer in Aspen, at a public event on March 13th at the ABC brewing facility in the Aspen Airport Business Center. In honor of Aspen Brewing Company's 10th anniversary of operations, the “History on Tap” program will explore the history behind brewing beer in Aspen, from Sanders to Flying Dog to today’s craft beer scene. Guests will enjoy one free beer with admission (additional beers $5), a short presentation, and a tour of the ABC’s brewing facility.

As early as 1885, the first brewery in Aspen, named Sanders after its founder, brewed likely one style of beer in a brewery adjacent to the Roaring Fork River on Mill Street. In March of 2008, the Aspen Brewing Company opened, bringing craft beer back to Aspen. The first location for “The Brewery” as they have come to be known, was situated just across the Roaring Fork River from the site of Aspen’s original Sanders Brewery. With over 15 small batch microbrews crafted “down stream from nobody” and the recent opening of Aspen Tap, a taproom and restaurant, Aspen Brewing Company has grown to be a staple in Aspen culinary scene as well as a regional leader in small batch distribution. “I can’t say enough how grateful we are to the Roaring Fork Valley community,” says Aspen Brewing Company owner Duncan Clauss. “We’re still here today thanks to your patronage and support, and we hope you’ll join us to celebrate 10 years in the business and many decades of beer drinking in Aspen!”

Pairing history with beer, the AHS History on Tap programs explore specific aspects of Aspen and Snowmass history. “Aspen Brewing Company has been generous sponsors of the AHS History on Tap series since AHS Board President Chace Dillon envisioned the program in 2016,” says AHS CEO Kelly Murphy. “We’re thrilled to commemorate their anniversary with a look at the legacy of beer across Aspen’s storied history.”
