Aspen, Colorado (August 23, 2023) — Aspen Center for Environmental Studies (ACES) is proud to host renowned conservationist and ethologist, Dr. Jane Goodall for a series of community events taking place over two days on September 11 and 12 from Aspen to Glenwood Springs. It will be Dr. Goodall’s first trip to the Roaring Fork Valley in nearly two decades. Tickets are $25 for adults and free for students.

"Joining forces with the Aspen Center for Environmental Studies in the stunning Roaring Fork Valley and connecting with the community's youth is a source of great joy for me,” said Dr. Goodall. She continued, “There is much overlap with my Roots & Shoots organization and ACES’ work to educate for environmental responsibility. The invaluable experiences shared in nature's embrace spark the passion and commitment needed to create a harmonious future for all living beings. Together, we will explore the wonders of the natural world, and these events are sure to inspire a generation of compassionate changemakers."

These special community events include the following:

Monday, September 11

5:30PM | Community Youth Lecture in Aspen at Harris Concert Hall for 500 local students/families (this event will be recorded and available on the ACES website)

Tuesday, September 12

10:00AM | School assembly at Roaring Fork High School for 400 students

1:00PM | School assembly at Glenwood Springs High School for 300 students

NOTE: ACES will prioritize attendance for students and youth, and the Aspen event will be live-streamed online so anyone can watch, whether or not they are able to attend the in-person events.

“This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for our community to hear from the person who may be the most renowned environmental icon of our generation, Dr. Jane Goodall,” said Chris Lane, CEO of ACES. “ACES is particularly proud to bring Dr. Goodall to connect with the youth of this valley. Her message of hope, beyond protection of primates, inspires people to take action to conserve the natural world around the globe, which is very much in keeping with the mission of ACES to educate for environmental responsibility,” said Lane.
