JAS Café Winter Series On-Sale Friday, Nov. 18 at 10am mst Includes Five Weekends of Performances at The Little Nell and Local Coffee/Here House
The series opens at the Nell on Winterskol weekend, Jan. 13-14, with trumpeter Alphonso Horne & the Gotham Kings bringing their New Orleans vibe to Aspen. The band will be joined by tap dancer Mikela. The dynamic vocalist Nicole Henry returns to the Café for her first appearance since 2017, on the heels of her latest highly acclaimed album “Time to Love Again.” Henry will also be performing at the Nell. The final three weekends of winter performances will take place at Local Coffee/Here House including a 2022 JAS June Experience favorite, Jontavious Willis on Feb. 24-25. The young bluesman who Taj Majal calls “a great new voice of the twenty-first century in the acoustic blues,” played to packed audiences at Felix Coffee in June gaining many new fans in Aspen. On March 10-11 the award-winning electroacoustic duo ARKAI, will make their Café debut. ARKAI has inspired audiences around the world through their genre-defying string music, forging new possibilities for what a violin and cello can be. The Winter Series will conclude with another debut duo, Acute Inflections on March 24-25. This jazz R&B duo is described as “a velvety mix of Erykah Badu and Billie Holiday, paired with the cool grooves of her 007 on bass.”
Tickets (ranging from $55-$75) for the shows will go on-sale Friday, Nov. 18 at 10am mst and can be purchased at jazzaspensnowmass.org. Showtimes for each night will be 7pm and 9:15pm. A series pass including five 9:15pm performances, will be available at a $50 discount.
