Jazz Aspen Snowmass to Stream Sold-Out JAS Café Performances
& JAS Academy Big Band from the Benedict Music Tent
JAS is bringing three exciting concerts to living rooms around the country via Facebook Live! and YouTube. Enjoy the music you love in the comfort of your own home including two sold-out JAS Cafe performances and a special performance from the Benedict Music Tent featuring the JAS Academy Big Band.
Tune in Sunday July 26 at 6pm mst for the airing of the Friday, July 24th Shelly Berg and Tierney Sutton “By Request” performance from the Aspen Art Museum. Dean of the Frost School of Music at The University of Miami and award-winning pianist Shelly Berg, joins forces with vocalist Tierney Sutton for this impromptu concert when music choices are randomly selected by audience members. The arrangements are created on the spot and in the moment, be ready for anything!
On Sunday Aug. 2 at 6pm mst JAS will air the Friday, July 31st performance from The Collective in Snowmass by two of the hottest young names on the jazz scene today: vocalist Veroncia Swift with pianist Emmet Cohen and his trio. Both graduates of the Frost School, Emmet and Veronica will entertain audiences at four sold-out shows over the weekend.
Both JAS Cafe performances will run on the Jazz ASpen Facebook page. The streams are free for anyone to watch and enjoy! However, donations of any size are greatly appreciated. To make a donation to JAS Mission based programming please visit jasstore.org.
The JAS Academy presented by JAS in collaboration with the Frost School of Music at the University of Miami will kick-off on Monday, July 27. Although COVID-19 restrictions have limited many of the performances and activities the students would typically participate in while here, JAS has arranged for them to perform as a Big Band, socially distanced, on the Benedict Music Tent stage. Although there will be no audience for the performance itself, JAS will be air the show on Saturday, Aug. 8 at 7pm mst on YouTube. This stream is also free but you must pre-register to receive the link. Visit jazzaspensnowmass.org for information on registering.
