NEW AND EXPANDED NONSTOP FLIGHTS TO BE OFFERED THIS SUMMER AND FALL

Delta will offer daily nonstop flights from Salt Lake City and three flights per week from Los Angeles

Both American and United will expand their nonstop flights farther into the Summer and Fall

(Aspen, CO – 3.07.2017) The Aspen/Pitkin County Airport today announced new or expanded flights by all three airlines for the 2016 summer and fall seasons.

Delta adds summer flights from Salt Lake City and Los Angeles

Delta is adding new flights into Aspen Snowmass (ASE) this summer with daily nonstop flights from Salt Lake City (SLC) plus nonstop flights from Los Angeles (LAX) on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays. These new seasonal summer flights begin June 10, 2017, with the flights from LAX continuing through August 30 while those from SLC will continue through September 4. The timing of these flights will allow for convenient one-stop connections from virtually all top points of origin for summer travelers to Aspen Snowmass. All flights into ASE will be operated by Delta Connection carrier SkyWest Airlines using two-class, 70-seat CRJ-700 jets.

"This reintroduction of summer flights by Delta for the first time in nearly a decade will open up many new travel options for locals and visitors alike," said Aspen/Pitkin County Airport Director, John Kinney.

“With the success of our recently expanded winter service into Aspen and its reputation as a popular summer destination, we are excited to launch summer seasonal service from Los Angeles and Salt Lake City,” said Ranjan Goswami, Delta Vice President – Sales, West Region.  “Aspen Snowmass is a key destination for customers in Los Angeles, and these routes make Aspen more accessible to visitors from around the globe during the summer months with one-stop connections through our two largest hubs in the Western U.S.”

American and United will extend nonstop flights farther into the Summer and Fall

American’s summer service from Dallas/Ft. Worth (DFW), Chicago/O’Hare (ORD) and Los Angeles (LAX) is scheduled to resume on June 2, 2017, with LAX continuing through September 2 this summer, while both DFW and ORD are now scheduled to operate daily through October 4.

United’s nonstop summer flights from Chicago/O’Hare (ORD), Houston/Bush (IAH), Los Angeles (LAX) and San Francisco (SFO) are all scheduled to resume on June 8, 2017. Both IAH and SFO will be extended through September 4 this summer, while United’s service from LAX is scheduled to continue through October 3, and United’s service from ORD is scheduled to operate daily through October 27. United also flies from Denver year-round with up to eight flights daily during the summer.

Altogether there are now a total of 127,778 seats scheduled into ASE from June through October this year, a 2% increase over last year and a 15% increase over what was flown in 2012. This represents five consecutive years of steady continued growth of airline capacity and routes.

“This will be the first time since 2008 that there have been three airlines serving Aspen Snowmass during the summer months, and this is the first time ever that nonstop flights will be offered during the summer from seven cities, said Bill Tomcich, President of Stay Aspen Snowmass.

Aspen/Pitkin County Airport is located three miles from Aspen and seven miles from Snowmass Village, the closest airport to any mountain resort destination. For information or to book flights and a vacation to Aspen or Snowmass, visit www.stayaspensnowmass.com or call 800-262-7736.
