WHEELER OPERA HOUSE ANNOUNCES FULL ROSTER OF EVENTS COMING TO WINTER SEASON IN ASPEN

 

Aspen, CO (November 16, 2017) Wheeler Opera House Executive Director Gena Buhler has announced the full roster of its jam-packed winter season, featuring theatrical events, concerts and films for the entire family to enjoy. Tickets go on sale Monday, November 27 at noon at the Wheeler Box Office (970.920.5770/ aspenshowtix.com).

These newly announced shows join a busy “Wheeler Wonderland” season that already includes, among others, The Del McCoury Band (December 6), comedian Heather McDonald (December 17), A Charlie Brown Christmas Live On Stage (December 23), Starship featuring Mickey Thomas (December 28), a New Years Eve celebration featuring the Infamous Stringdusters (December 31) as well as next year’s Aspen Laugh Festival (February 20-24).

Wheeler Opera House Executive Director Gena Buhler states, “The winter series is the signature series for the Wheeler every year. This winter’s roster includes programs representing a variety of genres – concerts, theatrical attractions, comedy, family shows, film, dance and more!” 

When asked what she’s most looking forward to on the 2017-18 winter season, Buhler replies, “I’m very excited to introduce our audience to Che Malambo. I have a BFA in Dance from the University of Michigan and therefore have a real affinity for introducing new dance companies to patrons.” She continues, “And I can’t wait for Starship, The Commodores and the return of Gary Mullen’s One Night of Queen.” Buhler concludes, “There truly is something for everyone on this winter series. It is my hope that patrons will purchase tickets to the shows that they most prefer, but also select one or two that they might be interested in discovering too.”

PostSecret: The Show is an immersive, poignant journey through the humor and humanity of the personal stories we keep to ourselves, and on rare occasions, share with others. Based on the ongoing community art project where people mail in their secrets anonymously on one side of a postcard, new secrets are posted online weekly and have since been curated into several books, including PostSecret: Extraordinary Confessions from Ordinary Lives. PostSecret: The Show features projected images, videos, three actors and a guitarist that guide the audience through crowd-sourced narratives revealing the true stories behind the secrets. 

Che Malambo

The powerhouse all-male Argentinian dance company, Che Malambo, excites audiences with their percussive dance and music spectacle. Malambo is a dynamic blend of precision footwork, rhythmic stomping, drumming and song, which originated in the 17^th century in the South American pampas.
