High School English teacher, experienced college essay coach and @FictionMatters bookstagrammer Sara Hildreth will walk 11th and 12th graders in the Roaring Fork Valley through how to structure a compelling college essay. The workshop will cover:
-What to include in an essay.
-How to make an essay complement the entirety of an application.
-How to hook readers and make the essay memorable to an admissions committee.
-How to organize an essay to make the greatest impact.
-How to tailor an essay(s) for your top choice schools.
Students will leave with an essay outline, brainstorming sheets for reference and reuse, as well as Sara’s top writing tips and tricks. The workshop will be conducted via Zoom. All registrants will receive a link prior to the start of the workshop.

About the Instructor
Sara Hildreth is a reader, writer and educator who has taught kindergarten, high school and nearly everything in between. She worked as a graduate admissions essay coach at Georgetown’s Center for New Designs in Learning and Scholarship and currently serves as a college essay coach for SheCan Global. In her six years as a high school English teacher, Sara brought her passion for literature and commitment to helping students find their voice into the classroom and rediscover their love of reading and writing. Currently, she works as a freelance writer and is the co-host of Novel Pairings, a bookish podcast dedicated to diversifying the canon and putting contemporary literature into conversation with the classics. Sara earned an MA in education psychology from the University of Colorado and an MA in english literature from Georgetown University.
