Aspen Film is building on the success of our first Dinner & a Movie event, by partnering with Mawa McQueen of Mawa’s Kitchen and the Woody CreekDistillers to present a special Virtual Dinner & a Movie February Fundraiser. Proceeds will benefit the organization’s FilmEducates program. FilmEducates allows us to inspire young people throughout the Roaring Fork Valley and beyond to engage with the film medium as a means of personal expression and connection.
This month’s fun, family-friendly Dinner & a Movie pairing will be Greek Moussaka & MY BIG FAT GREEK WEDDING. We are thrilled to be featuring the talents and passion of an incredible local chef, as well as highlighting spirits distilled right here in the Roaring Fork Valley. Opah!
Our goal with this series, in addition to raising funds to support our youth programming, is to give our community an opportunity to connect through a shared food and film experience. By pairing classic and joyous food-themed movies, with dishes not frequently served in our mountain communities, we are hoping to bring some needed levity and an infusion of flavor into these challenging winter months.
The evening’s activities will begin promptly at 6 PM when we log into Zoom and join the event. You will be greeted by Chef Mawa, who will then turn it over to a WCD Rep to walk us through a demonstration of how to prepare your cocktail. Once we have cocktails in hand, the cooking portion of the evening will commence. The main course being prepared is a Greek Moussaka dish. You have the option to add Beef or Mawa’s Vegan “Meat” as your protein. We estimate the cooking & beverage portion of the evening will take around an hour and a half, leaving you ample time to enjoy the fruits of your labor as you watch the film.
If you purchase the Premium Roaring Fork Valley Local Package, you will make your protein selection when you purchase your ticket. If you purchase the VIP Cooking Experience ticket, you will be provided a grocery list and can choose your protein when you purchase your own ingredients.
