The Aspen Art Museum (AAM) is pleased to announce a major commission by poet and artist Precious Okoyomon (b. 1993). This will be Okoyomon’s first solo museum exhibition in the United States and will take place over 18 months between June 2021 and October 2022 in collaboration with Anderson Ranch Arts Center. Okoyomon will transform the AAM rooftop, installing a mixture of sculpture and organic matter to create a garden based on themes of pleasure, abundance, and desire.
Okoyomon will be in residence in Aspen on multiple occasions, developing and transforming the project over its entire duration, making it a live and responsive commission that will literally grow and replenish over time.
