Aspen Fire / City of Aspen will be closing E Hopkins Ave between S Mill St and S Galena @ 1000 on Saturday morning. Staging, banners, ladder trucks with the American Flag, audio / visual will be set up before 1030. Smokin' Joe Kelly will start playing live music from 1030 till the start of the ceremony, start time is 1158 when the station whistle sounds, followed by the Tiger Squadron air show. Aspen Fire Honor Guard will then take over proceedings. Guest speakers from first responder agencies, military veterans and local churches will follow the Honor Guard. The ceremony is slated to end at 1315.
Casa D' Angelo, along with DAOU Vineyards will be hosting a charity lunch starting at 1330, 105 S Mill St, around the corner from the fire house. The lunch consists of a 3 course meal and wine pairing / tasting by the famous DAOU Vineyards, tickets can be purchased by scanning the QR code on the flyer, or by calling Casa D'Angelo direct (970) 920-2021. Cost per ticket is $300. All proceeds go to Axes & Arms and Huts for Vets, two local non-profit agencies that help first responders, their families and military veterans in times of need. Lunch is scheduled between 1330-1530, with representatives from Axes & Arms and Hunts for Vets providing a short speech on what each charity does for our community.
