Maroon Bells Reservations

Maroon Creek Road to Maroon Bells is Closed for the Winter Season

As of 7 PM on Friday, November 8, Maroon Creek Road is closed to car traffic for the winter season. 

Maroon Creek Road will reopen in May. 

Parking and shuttle reservations are required May-October.

Maroon Bells Shuttle Reservations & Parking Permits

Reservations are required to access the Maroon Bells Scenic Area and related amenities. Choose between private vehicle trailhead parking permits or RFTA shuttle reservations. Go to visitmaroonbells.com for reservations.

Parking Reservation Information
Dates

Parking reservations will be required from May 15 through October 31, 2025.

Parking Cost

The price of a parking reservation is $10/vehicle. 

Parking Times

Day Visit Parking (12:00 AM - 4:30 PM) 
*From May 24th through October 20th you must arrive before 8:00 AM

Evening Parking (5:00 PM - 12:00 AM)
*Arrival after 5:00 PM

24-Hour Parking (Midnight - Midnight) 
*From May 24th through October 20th you must arrive before 8:00 AM

Overnight Parking 2-Nights (6:00 AM - 6:00 PM, 60 Hours) 
*From May 24th through October 20th, no arrivals between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM

Location

Parking reservations are for parking at the end of Maroon Creek Road, at the Maroon Bells scenic area. 

Drop Offs

There will be the ability for private vehicles to drop off passengers between 6 AM and 8 AM without a parking reservation; however, visitors who are dropped off during this time will need a one-way ticket to ride the shuttle down to Aspen Highlands after 8 AM. Commercial drop-offs are not allowed at any time.

Post-season Parking

Starting November 1st, no reservations are required and trailhead parking will be on a first come first serve basis. The road to Maroon Bells closes for the winter season mid November.

Dates

The RFTA shuttle service runs from May 23 through October 19, 2025.

Times

8 am to 3 pm (last shuttle departs from Highlands at 3 pm)

Download from Maroon Lake available until 5 pm

Advance Purchase Round-Trip Shuttle Tickets

$16 Adults

$10 Seniors over 65

$10 Children under 12

 

One-Way Downhill Shuttle Tickets

$10

One-way downhill tickets will be required from the Maroon Bells Scenic Area to Aspen Highlands. We encourage tickets to be purchased in advance.

 

Limited, Day-Of Tickets

If limited no-show tickets are available the day of, prices will be higher. We encourage you to purchase reservations in advance.

$20 Adults

$14 Seniors over 65

$14 Children under 12

 

When buses are not in operation, vehicle reservations will be required to access the Maroon Bells Scenic Area. 

Ticket Office/Shuttle Pick Up Area - Arrival Information

Catch a free RFTA shuttle to Aspen Highlands. Take a direct route from Ruby Park in downtown Aspen, or choose a bus stop from other locations along RFTA's routes. Free parking is available at the Brush Creek Park & Ride with free RFTA service to Aspen Highlands (with bus transfer). 

Ticket Office/Shuttle Pick Up Area - Parking Information

Paid parking at Aspen Highlands. Reservations are not required for the Aspen Highlands parking garage. Parking is available even during garage construction projects. Do not book Maroon Bells trailhead parking for this lot. Vehicles over 19 feet are not permitted. Oversized vehicles can park at the Brush Creek Park & Ride and take the free RFTA bus to Aspen Highlands (with transfer). 

Group Reservations

Large groups may need to make two reservations and split your party between two shuttle times. If you cannot find availability for your group size, and you have more than 15 people, please email [email protected] to see if you can be accommodated on a shuttle. These special requests need to be made at least two weeks prior to the day you would like to visit, for a minimum of 15 people, and there are no guarantees of availability. Please include a phone number to be called back on.
