Wintersköl™ Names Terry Trish and Erlinda Morehead as This Year’s Royalty

Trish and Morehead to be recognized throughout this weekend’s event

ASPEN, Colo. (Dec. 10, 2024) – Wintersköl has named Terry Trish and Erlinda Morehead this year’s Royalty ahead of this weekend’s event. Both Trish and Morehead are being recognized for their contributions to the Aspen community. Wintersköl Royalty are nominated by the community and selected by committee as local residents who exemplify the Wintersköl spirit through their dedication to and involvement with the community. Trish and Morehead will be celebrated throughout the weekend after being introduced at the Icebreaker Bash. They’ll both participate as judges for Soupsköl and Kidsculpt and receive their official “crowns” with a custom hat party at Kemosabe. They’ll also be honored with a short video ahead of the Aspen Extreme showing at the ISIS Theatre on Thursday evening.

“I am proud and honored to introduce our newly crowned Wintersköl Royalty, Terry Trish and Erlinda Morehead,” said Julie Hardman, Senior Events Director for Aspen Chamber Resort Association (ACRA). "Both of these community members truly exemplify the spirit of Wintersköl and are two vibrant examples of the people that make Aspen special. It brings me joy to honor them as Wintersköl Royalty.”

Terry Trish grew up in Whittier, California, and moved to Aspen in 1977, a move he describes as the best decision of his life. For nearly 40 years, Trish delivered mail on Aspen’s downtown business route, witnessing the evolution of family-owned businesses and forming lasting connections with the community. Alongside his professional accomplishments, he helped raise three daughters, all of whom attended the Aspen School District and went on to graduate college and pursue careers as a therapist, attorney, and business owner. Beginning in 1998 and until his retirement in 2015, Trish was joined by his golden retrievers, Sydney and Ali, through the years on his mail route.

His retirement was celebrated in 2015 with a surprise party hosted by Kemosabe and attended by the downtown businesses he served so faithfully. However, his retirement was short-lived, as he missed interacting with people. Eight months later, he began working for RFTA, driving Aspen City routes and providing transportation to Maroon Bells during the summers. Known for his friendly demeanor, Trish greets every passenger with a warm hello, embodying the small-town values of connection and kindness that Aspen cherishes. Whether delivering mail or driving a bus, Trish has always made it his mission to ensure every interaction leaves people feeling valued and welcome.

Erlinda Morehead moved to Aspen in April of 1981, a decision she considers one of the best she has ever made. There, she met her husband, Ron Morehead, and together they raised their two sons, Dillon and Quinn, in this vibrant mountain community. Aspen has provided Morehead with lifelong friendships and a fulfilling banking career spanning 50 years, including over 25 years with Alpine Bank.

Morehead has been deeply involved in volunteer work, contributing to events like the FOOD & WINE Classic in Aspen, the 4th of July Buddy Race, and St. Mary’s St. Patrick’s Day Dinner, which supports those in need. She is also a passionate advocate for Kids First, an early childhood resource center she joined when her now 35-year-old son was a toddler. For over 30 years, Morehead has taught Religious Education at St. Mary Catholic Church and, since 2017, has mentored students through English in Action. Her volunteer work extends to the Wheeler Opera House and District Theater, reflecting her love for the arts and community. Morehead encourages everyone to volunteer, emphasizing the joy and satisfaction it brings. Her dedication exemplifies the spirit of service and community engagement.

Wintersköl will officially kick off this Thursday, Dec. 12 with an action-packed evening of programming to celebrate the Aspen community and winter’s return. New this year, attendees can look forward to gathering as a community during Thursday evening’s Icebreaker Bash, Aspen Extreme screening, and at Belly Up Aspen for the O’Connor Brothers Band to kick off the weekend’s celebrations. The Icebreaker Bash and Aspen Extreme screening are both free to attend with an RSVP in advance; tickets are required for Belly Up ($5 general admission).
