1. Downtown Aspen
Sitting at 8,000 ft. with loads of history, amazing food, and chic cocktail lounges, is the iconic downtown Aspen. Beautiful year round it is a great place to explore. I always suggest two locations for all my engagement sessions, and I believe that downtown Aspen is a must stop to either start or finish our session. Don’t forget a downtown classic change of outfit and be sure to take a picture on Mill Street and Cooper Avenue!
2. Hotels in Aspen
-
- Hotel Jerome - Aspen’s first hotel, and my personal favorite. Built in 1889 this hotel still holds so much historical greatness that goes perfectly with Kemo Sabe hats.
- St. Regis - Located at the base of Aspen mountain, The St Regis Aspen has a stunning courtyard. They host many unique and presentable events on the daily for guests to enjoy.
- The Little Nell - Aspen’s go-to hotel and residency. The Little Nell even has its own private terrace on top of Aspen mountain that will literally blow your mountain views away.
- Aspen Meadows - Across town near the river, is this hidden gem with lots of beautiful open land and lawn art around the property.
3. On top of Aspen Mountain
Accessible year-round by the Silver Queen Gondola or you have the option of driving in the summer. Did you want to talk about the most scenic views mountain views? The Little Nell has a wedding Terrace here that is very popular. Make sure to prepare yourself for the higher altitude before your arrival.
A beautiful wedding venue, T Lazy 7 Ranch has magical views year-round. In the winter they offer snowmobile rides and snowshoeing. A huge plus is that on clear sunny days you get to see the peaks of Maroon Bells.
One of my all time favorite locations. It has the most private, most breathtaking meadows with colorful wildflowers in June and the best fall vibratice in late September. A vehicle to this location is a must. It is about 30+ minutes away from downtown Aspen, if you have no means of transportation we can plan ahead for you to grab a ride with me.
A few miles past T Lazy 7 Ranch is the iconic Maroon Bells, when it comes to views this has to be #1. Standing over 14,000 feet tall and deep with surrounding aspen trees and the glistening waters of the peaceful alpine lake, the Maroon Bells are widely considered Colorado’s most-photographed location. It is VERY important to keep in mind that reservations are a must to enter the park so make sure to plan ahead for your trip and photography session.
The summit of Independence Pass is located 19 miles east of Aspen and crosses the Continental Divide over the Sawatch Mountain Range. The road winds through the San Isabel National Forest on the east side and the White River National Forest on the west side of the Divide. This scenic drive is a MUST when you are going into or out of Aspen.
8. Snowmass
An easy 20 min drive from downtown Aspen is Snowmass Mountain. Snowmass has some of the best hiking and summer activities around.
A beautiful park by the Roaring Fork River, located in downtown Aspen behind Hotel Jerome. It has the most romantic bridge, this is my favorite spot year round!
Right outside of downtown Aspen is a cutest open space area. A great spot for a picnic, proposal, or of course a photo session.
Looking for some bonus ideas? Here are some activities you and your finance can do to spice up your engagement photo session:
- Horseback riding
- Fly fishing
- Glamping/ Cabin
- Horse drawn sleigh ride
- Hot air balloon
- Ice skating
- Off roading
- Canoe
- Rental car fun
