Haiti-born, Paris-based Hervé Télémaque’s A Hopscotch of the Mind marks his first solo exhibition in the US, featuring a non-linear presentation of his prolific career from the 1960s to the present. The exhibition encompasses an expansive body of work with a playful visual vocabulary that includes abstract gestures, cartoon-like imagery, and mixed-media compositions. Through paintings, drawings, collages, objects, and assemblages, he brings together striking combinations of historical and literary references with those of consumer and popular culture.
This exhibition is curated by Serpentine, London’s Artistic Director Hans Ulrich Obrist and former Associate Curator Joseph Constable. Presented by Serpentine, London, and Aspen Art Museum. Exhibition design provided by Helen Marten, who has reconceptualized the staging of the exhibition.
Exhibition will be opened November 4, 2022 - March 26, 2023
