The site of continuous discussion, Lift One was Aspen’s first true chair lift and the world’s “highest, fastest and longest” lift when it unofficially opened in 1946. The lift, a single chair, took 45 minutes to ride, accessing what would become a world-class ski resort across a mine-riddled peak.
