Creature of Culture

In Aspen, you're never far away from cultural activities for your soul. Start your day at the music festival and finish it with a JAS Café, and sprinkle some ideas in between. This itinerary is sure to nourish your mind, body, and spirit.

10 am

Attend a dress rehearsal of Aspen Music Festival and School's Chamber Symphony at Michael Klein Music Tent. Or sit on the lawn outside with a picnic blanket and coffee from a local cafe to enjoy the music surrounded by nature for free.

12 pm

Take in the Aspen Art Museum, (closed Mondays) and dive into a locally-sourced lunch at their rooftop café, SO. Once satiated, peruse the current exhibitions and unique gift shop.

2pm

Discover Aspen's rich past at Aspen Historical Society's Wheeler/Stallard Museum and Holden/Marolt Mining and Ranching Museum. Take an architectural tour through the West End neighborhood, tour the historical Wheeler Opera House or the landmark Hotel Jerome.

4 pm

Check out the Aspen Institute or Aspen Words programming and see what is available for an afternoon of mental stimulation.  If you attend any programming at the Aspen Institute, don’t miss dinner at Plato’s Kitchen; it’s rumored to have the best summer sunset views.

7 pm

Enjoy an intimate performance with Theatre Aspen at The Hurst Theatre next to Rio Grande Park. Arrive early to walk around the John Denver Sanctuary and Song Garden, a beautiful oasis steps from downtown Aspen.

9 pm

JAS Aspen Snowmass creates an intimate jazz cafe at venues around town with performances from some of the greatest jazz artists from around the world. This is the best ending to your culture rich day.
