Mountain Fun- Moms and dads who grew up skiing can share their love of the sport as a family. Skiing is the rare sport that kids as young as 3 can head up the mountain, not to mention all that chairlift time is an excellent way to bond as family- sans cell phones. Consider taking a family ski lesson together and glide through tree trails, carving new memories sure to last a lifetime.
Guided tours- Go off the beaten path as a family with many educational and fun guided tours to be found in Aspen. Take a snowshoe tour with ACES through the beautiful and pristine Castle Creek Valley. For the more adventurous family, consider a snowmobile tour with T-Lazy 7 Ranch up to the Maroon Bells. Little ones can ride in the front as parents brap through North America’s most photographed peaks- hot chocolate breaks included.
Aspen Recreation Center Fun – No matter what the weather is outside, anyone of all ages can find a way to be active and entertained at the Aspen Rec Center. Ice-skating, rock climbing, sledding, swimming in the indoor pool, and nordic skiing are all activities to try as a family. Please note that reservations are required this year at the Aspen Rec Center and can be made online here.
Dining – Eating is a definite family fun activity, especially at the right family friendly restaurants. CP Burger offers delicious burgers and hot dogs that any family member would enjoy. Afterward, enjoy ice-skating on Aspen’s only outdoor ice-skating rink. Grabbing a quick bite to eat before a day full of adventure at Jour de Fete or enjoying an after dinner treat at Paradise Bakery are a couple of Aspen’s many delicious quick grabs.
Artistic Expression- head over to the Aspen Art Museum and enjoy their exhibit of arts and crafts showcasing this winter season. AAM also offers family workshops and other learning programs available here. The Red Brick Arts offers kids art programs to help unleash your child’s inner creative spirit.
