24 Hours of Spring Adventures in Aspen

Sunny spring day in Aspen

With warmer temperatures and plenty of bluebird days, there are endless ways to spend a spring day in Aspen. Extra daylight makes spring ideal for dual-sport days and experiencing Aspen to the fullest. Get inspired with our version of the ultimate spring day in Aspen.

Breakfast

Start your morning off with a treat from Paradise Bakery. Paradise Bakery is a town favorite, offering an extensive selection of homemade baked goods that pair perfectly with a steaming mug of coffee. Fuel up for an action-packed spring day.

Spring biking in Aspen

Biking

There’s no better way to start the day than getting some fresh air, soaking up the sun, and enjoying the outdoors. With the snow starting to melt, spring marks the start of biking season. Biking trails range from paved trails that meander along the Roaring Fork River to mountain bike trails that climb dirt paths and offer spectacular mountain views. Biking to the Maroon Bells or the top of Independence Pass are two of the most scenic and popular rides. Before these roads open to cars for the summer, road bikers can enjoy a relaxing, car-free ride. Ride For The Pass is a spring event that gives bikers the chance to ride alongside hundreds of fellow cyclists on the winding, iconic Independence Pass Road. The diverse terrain and panoramic views make biking an ideal way to explore Aspen this spring.

Lunch

After a morning of riding, you’ll have worked up an appetite. Aspen is home to world-class restaurants, offering everything from casual grab-and-go food to fine dining experiences. With a variety of cuisines and offerings, there’s something for everyone’s taste!

Spring fly fishing in Aspen

Fishing

Stretches of the rivers around Aspen are designated Gold Medal waters, offering premier fly fishing. Warmer temperatures mark the start of insect hatches and hungry trout, making spring prime fly fishing season. Fly fishing is a great way to experience nature and spot wildlife. With animals ranging from moose to bears to birds roaming the banks, be on the lookout for some extra excitement. Never fly fished before? Book a guided tour, and an experienced angler will show you the ropes. It’s fun to learn something new and spend a scenic afternoon on the river no matter your ability.

Dinner

At the end of a rewarding day, enjoy another delicious meal at one of Aspen’s many delicious restaurants. With fewer crowds, a handful of dining spots close for a few weeks in the spring and reopen at the beginning of summer. Stay tuned for our list of spring restaurants to choose one of the many that remain open. Looking for a more affordable option? Bar menus offer a selection of tasty offerings in a more relaxed setting.

Wheeler Opera House Aspen

Show

The day isn’t over yet! Local organizations host a variety of events offering everything from live concerts to theatre performances. At the historic Wheeler Opera House, entertainment includes comedy shows, live music, speakers, and more. This May, the Wheeler Opera House presents Roaring Fork Rising, a series that showcases local talent. The Belly Up is a local live music venue, giving concert goers the chance to experience their favorite artists in an intimate setting. Shows feature everything from big-name artists to emerging talent. Catching an evening performance is the ideal way to end an epic spring day in Aspen.
